Toner vs Gloss, What’s Best for Your Hair?

September 3, 2019

So you are thinking about switching up your color, but not sure how to choose between a toner, gloss, or glaze treatment with your service? We have put together some quick info  to help you decide.

Toner

Listen up California blondes! Toner (also known as Glaze) is a unique hair product that can neutralize and appropriate brassy or orange tones in lighter shades to provide a more natural blended look. So after you spend the days in the sun, specially if you have been going to Malibu beaches, or the pool at your house in Agoura Hills, Calabasas, Westlake Village, this is the treatment for you.

Toners have a special ability to brighten and enhance a brilliant shine to your hair. It is applied to towel dried clean hair, and usually is left on for 1-5 minutes. The major upside is the instant results, but the downside is it typically does not last anymore than 6 weeks total. With that being said, this is a great add-on treatment or the perfect way to freshen up your hair color. The best salons in Los Angeles will recommend that you get a toner with a bleach service.

Gloss

Have you been wanting to try something new with your hair but are too scared to commit to permanent color?  A gloss might be something you’d want to try! Gloss treatments are non-permanent color options that can help enhance the color you have or create a new subtle hair shade. They are the perfect services for young clients, in between color clients and clients who are do not want a full change in their look.

As the name suggests, the shine of a gloss treatment is like no other. It works by sinking into the cuticle and then enclosing the shaft to provide a smooth silky shiny result. There are different ways of applying, but normally stays on the hair a little longer than toners. Once processed, a good Gloss job can last up to 4 weeks.

This service can be done by it self or as an add-on to a color service. You will look ready to hit the town, try The Stonehauss in Westlake Village or Firefly in Studio City to show off your new shine. We guarantee you will leave everyone asking what you've done different.

We hope this helps narrow down your decision, if not, we would love to see you for a complimentary color consultation in Calabasas at The Chair Salon and Spa!
